A Temple that hands out gold to devotees

After darshan at temple, devotees are usually given rice, flowers, fruits, kumkum etc., as prasadam. But in a temple in Madhya Pradesh, devotees are given gold and silver. Surprising, right?!

Yes, Ratnapura, also known as Ratlam, is located in the northwestern part of the state of Madhya Pradesh. At the Mahalakshmi Temple here, Gold is distributed to devotees after their prayers.

Devotees who visit this temple, which is believed to be alleviating people from poverty, only give gold or silver in offering to the Goddess. Thus, the gold and silver offered by the devotees throughout the year are piled up like a mountain. Generally, it is customary to use the money, gold, and silver from the offerings for the temple's restitution. But in this temple, they are offered back to the devotees who visit here.

This event is held annually on the occasion of Deepavali. Gold and silver are distributed to the devotees who come to the temple on that day. As the devotees see this as a blessing from the Goddess, none of them sell the gold offered by this temple.

Will you be lucky enough to drop in here for Deepavali this year? You have months to plan! (just saying)
