Intriguing Secrets about Tirupati Venkateshwara idol

There are millions who worship Lord Venkateshwara of Tirumala, but there are very few who know the glory of the statue of Tirupati Ezhumalayan. Let’s take a look at the intriguing secrets of the Lord’s statue in Tirumala, Tirupati. The Tirupati Venkateshwara statue is made of a 250 crore year old rare rock called "Silatoranam". Tirumala is located at an altitude of 3,000 feet. At such a cold temperature, The Lord is anointed (abhishegam) with cold water, milk, Sandalwood paste, etc at 4.30 am, but when the abhishegam is over, Lord Venkateshwara sweats. An intriguing fact, indeed!

It is believed that Lord opens his third eye during the anointing, hence heat emanates!

Scientifically, applying tender camphor on black stone or a statue carved out of it, will cause it to explode immediately. But, despite being applied with tender camphor throughout the day, there is no hazardous reaction.

The sculptor's chisel marks are visible on any statue. Even a metal statue shows the moulding marks. But nothing like that is seen in the Lord’s Statue.

Take any stone statue, it will have a rough texture. But, the intricate carvings on Ezhumalayan Thirumeni are all so smooth!

So next time you visit Tirumala, think of how marvellous the Lord is and rever his mysterious Thirumeni!
